Be it knowen to all cristen people ([London], c.1518).
This volume contains a beautiful book of Psalms printed by Richard Pynson in 1524.
Tucked into the front there is an exceptionally rare survival, a printed request for funds issued by the Roman Catholic Church. The church sought funds in support of officially-sanctioned good works for which a penitent sinner would receive a remission of the time they would have to spend in purgatory after death. This remission was called an Indulgence.
This request for funds to build a north porch at Hereford Cathedral in England is unique. The north porch is still standing five centuries later.
