P. Rami Nominum et Verborum Declinationes (La Rochelle, 1587).
This schoolbook was published in the French city of La Rochelle in 1587. It was designed to introduce children to the complex rules governing Latin nouns and verbs.
The text is ascribed to Pierre de la Ramée (1517–72), a leading French philosopher, theologian and educational thinker.
Schoolbooks are some of the rarest survivals from the period because they tended to be heavily used before being discarded. This book found its way into the collection of Elias Bouhéreau (1643–1719) and came out of France along with all of his other books when he fled the country in 1686.
