11. Book of Psalms (Sefer Tehilim)
Books containing only the Psalms were common in Christianity, where they became known as Psalters. Such collections of the Psalms were also printed in Hebrew (Sefer Tehilim). This volume, published in Isny, Germany, in 1541, includes the biblical text along with commentary from the medieval rabbi David Kimḥi, known also as Radak (b. 1160). In the image below, the biblical text is the larger material near the top of the page. Radak’s commentary, which draws on other parts of Jewish tradition and commentary, fills the rest of the page.
