William Molyneux, Dioptrica nova. A treatise of dioptricks, in two parts (London, 1692)
Molyneux’s book was the first treatise in English on optics. This is a copy which he presented to Archbishop Narcissus Marsh, the founder of this Library. Marsh had a keen interest in the most up-to-date scientific discoveries of his day. The inscription reads: ‘To the Most Rever’d Narcissus L[or]d Archb[isho]p of Cashel His Grace, From the Author[,] Will: Molyneux’.
