The Irish Times was the only Dublin paper to stay in print during the Rising. It condemned the rebellion as ‘the darkest week in the history of Dublin’ and ‘an orgie of fire and slaughter.’

This front page features pictures of three insurgents from Jacob’s biscuit factory, the rebel garrison closest to Marsh’s Library: Thomas MacDonagh (top row, second from left); John MacBride (top row, far right); and Michael O’Hanrahan (bottom row, second from left).
